Dr. Makheed Bashar is a children’s cancer specialist who has been employed in the medical field for three decades. Dr. Bashar was brought to the United States when he was 5 years old from Pakistan. He grew up in Denver Colorado where his parents owned a small Pharmacy. Dr. Bashar grew up working at the store his parents owned and it was his introduction into helping people.
It was not long before he had decided that he wanted to become a doctor so that he could help people. Bashar graduated high school and began attending University of Colorado School of Medicine. Than dr. Bashar studied for seven years before starting his internship at the trauma Ward of St Joseph’s Hospital. This would be the beginning of Doctor Bashar’s Long career at st. Joseph Hospital.
After he finished his internship, dr. Bashar began working as a full-time doctor at the Denver Health Medical Center. It was here that he would spend the majority of his first decade as a doctor. Dr. Bashar became a beloved part of the community and he was often nominated for local awards for his charitable work. Some of the things he enjoyed doing was spending time with children who had lost their fathers.
Dr. Bashar would take small groups of children from the community fishing and on boating trips. This made him somewhat of a local Legend and a hero of the small kids.Some of the other ways Dr. Bashar like to spend his time was volunteering with relief efforts in the Middle East. Dr. Bashar worked with Doctors Without Borders in the Syria conflict Zone or 9 months and 2015.
Upon his return, Dr. Bashar became a full-time resident doctor at St Joseph’s Hospital. He focused on treating children with cancer and his remission rates are some of the highest in the country. When he isn’t working or volunteering, doctor Bashar enjoys spending time on vacation with his wife Janet.
The two are a perfect match and are often cited at community events. they even hosted an all-you-can-eat buffet for the local homeless on Christmas this year. Dr. Bashar has two dogs A small Chihuahua and a large husky, both of them are two years old and replaced his golden retriever which died of old age at 15 years old. 15 is a long time for a Golden Retriever to live as that is 7 times that number in dog years.
